Identifying, Investigating and Prosecuting Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Strangulation Cases – In-person

September 28 @ 7:30 am - 5:00 pm

The Training Institute on Strangulation Prevention reports that one in four women that will experience intimate partner violence in their lifetimes, 68% of these victims will also experience near-fatal strangulation by their partner. Only half of these victims will have visible signs of injuries, but the odds of victimization by homicide will increase for these victims by 750% compared to domestic violence victims who have never been strangled. Please join us for a day of training to explore a wide variety of topics to enhance the identification, investigation, and prosecution of strangulation cases, including clinical signs and symptoms of strangulation, short and long-term consequences of strangulation injury, legal considerations, risk assessment tools, and many others.
