What Can You Do?

TAKE ACTION ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING THE FASTEST GROWING GLOBAL CRIME

There are many ways you can help fight human trafficking:

Get Involved

Get involved with local organizations in your area that focus on eliminating human trafficking and providing services to human trafficking victims.

Participate in an anti-trafficking movement in your area and get involved in its activities and campaigns (e.g. hold events, distribute posters, leaflets etc.) in your neighborhood and in schools.

Start your own fundraiser! Contact julied@novabucks.org to learn more.

Encourage Businesses to Take Action

Be a responsible consumer! Inform yourself on the labor policies of companies you do business with to make sure that their products are not made using slave labor or other forms of exploitation. If possible, buy fair trade products.

Know your own “footprint”. Go to Slaveryfootprint.org.

See the Polaris Project report: “On-Ramps, Intersections and Exit Routes: A Roadmap for Systems and Industries to Prevent and Disrupt Human Trafficking”.

Help Raise Awareness

Talk to friends, family and colleagues about human trafficking.

Talk to your local legislators and authorities about the impact of human trafficking and legislation that supports victims.

Publicize the National Human Trafficking Hotline number.

Seek Support

If you suspect that someone has been trafficked, report it to the institutions or assistance facilities that deal with human trafficking in your area.

Educate Yourself

Educate yourself about human trafficking.

Follow events in the news.

Keep your eyes open – human trafficking is happening all around us.

Travel with socially responsible businesses

ECPAT-USA works with travel companies to put in place policies and programs that assist in the spotting and reporting of cases of commercial sexual exploitation of children, should they occur on their premises (The Tourism Industry Code of Conduct).
